Betta Care:
DO NOT PUT MALE BETTAS IN THE SAME BOWL OR TANK!
Keep only one male Betta with non-aggressive fish in a community tank or by themselves in a desktop tank. Females should be kept away from males, as the male can chase and even kill the female if she is not ready to breed. Multiple female Bettas can live together, however the tank must be at least 10 gallons and have several hiding spots. Female Bettas establish a ''pecking order'' and if you put only two females in a tank, the less dominant one will get picked on. Therefore, if you want to keep more than one female in the same tank, you need to keep them in groups of at least five. All females must be added to the tank at the same time.
Feeding: Small amount of flakes or pellets, one to two times a day. Add variety to their diet by including frozen and freeze-dried foods such as bloodworms, tubifex worms, and brine shrimp at least once a week.
Habitat: Bettas should be kept in at least a 1 gallon tank, but it's best to start with a 2.5 gallon tank. Bettas should not be housed with aggressive fish species or with fin nippers, such as tiger barbs. See below for a list of species that make good tank mates for Bettas, and a list of species that do not make good tank mates.
Bettas don't like strong currents, so its a good idea to use a an adjustable filter to control the current. Keep tank temperature between 75F°-82F°(24°C-28°C).Bettas prefer a pH of neutral (7.0) or slightly acidic.
Tank Mates: Depending on the size of tank, Bettas can be housed with other species. However, every Betta is different, some are more aggressive than others so these are just suggestions.
